Attorney General Meets with Young Muslim Americans

By Jacqueline L. Salmon

Atty. Gen. Eric Holder held a private visit with about 200 young Muslim Americans during a recent trip to Los Angeles. There has been a lot of nervousness in that area because of allegations by local Muslims that the FBI had planted informants in local mosques who had tried to provoke young Muslims into making brash statements against the American government.

The Los Angeles Times quoted those who attended as saying that Holder wouldn't talk about specific cases of abuse and racial profiling, but promised to put more money and effort into boosting the Department of Justice's civil rights division, and he committed his department to fostering trust with Muslim Americans.
