Love for Jesus can bring Christians, Muslims together
By Ibrahim Hooper
"Behold! The angels said: 'O Mary! God giveth thee glad tidings of a Word from Him. His name will be Jesus Christ, the son of Mary, held in honor in this world and the Hereafter and in (the company of) those nearest to God.'"
Before searching for this quote in the New Testament, you might first ask your Muslim co-worker, friend or neighbor for a copy of the Quran, Islam's revealed text. The quote is from verse 45 of chapter 3 in the Quran.
It is well known, particularly in this holiday season, that Christians follow the teachings of Jesus. What is less well understood is that Muslims also love and revere Jesus as one of God's greatest messengers to mankind.
Other verses in the Quran, regarded by Muslims as the direct word of God, state that Jesus was strengthened with the "Holy Spirit" (2:87) and is a "sign for the whole world." (21:91) His virgin birth was confirmed when Mary is quoted as asking: "How can I have a son when no man has ever touched me?" (3:47)
The Quran shows Jesus speaking from the cradle and, with God's permission, curing lepers and the blind. (5:110) God also states in the Quran: "We gave (Jesus) the Gospel (Injeel) and put compassion and mercy into the hearts of his followers." (57:27)
As forces of hate in this country and worldwide try to pull Muslims and Christians apart, we are in desperate need of a unifying force that can bridge the widening gap of interfaith misunderstanding and mistrust. That force could be the message of love, peace and forgiveness taught by Jesus and accepted by followers of both faiths.
Christians and Muslims would do well to consider another verse in the Quran reaffirming God's eternal message of spiritual unity: "Say ye: 'We believe in God and the revelation given to us and to Abraham, Ismail, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes, and that given to Moses and Jesus, and that given to (all) Prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and it is unto Him that we surrender ourselves.'" (2:136)
The Prophet Muhammad himself sought to erase any distinctions between the message he taught and that taught by Jesus, who he called God's "spirit and word." Prophet Muhammad said: "Both in this world and in the Hereafter, I am the nearest of all people to Jesus, the son of Mary. The prophets are paternal brothers; their mothers are different, but their religion is one."
When Muslims mention the Prophet Muhammad, they always add the phrase "peace be upon him." Christians may be surprised to learn that the same phrase always follows a Muslim's mention of Jesus or that we believe Jesus will return to earth in the last days before the final judgment. Disrespect toward Jesus, as we have seen all too often in our society, is very offensive to Muslims.
Unfortunately, violent events and hate-filled rhetoric around the world provide ample opportunity for promoting religious hostility. And yes, Muslims and Christians do have some differing perspectives on Jesus' life and teachings. But his spiritual legacy offers an alternative opportunity for people of faith to recognize their shared religious heritage.
America's Muslim community stands ready to honor that legacy by building bridges of interfaith understanding and challenging those who would divide our nation along religious or ethnic lines.
We have more in common than we think.

Moi: Spewing such reckless and undocumented allegations is a hallmark of Muslims. Just because the New Testament (Ingil) does not prophesy about their prophet, then the Injil must be corrupted or doctored. When and who and how and whom and where “the uncorrupted copy is, was never touched upon.

You wrote, "Muslims rever Jesus and his saintly mother Mary and beleive in his authentic undoctored mission and gospels."
What you are really saying here is that what is written in the Bible about Jesus is all a pack of lies, is it not?
A simple answer will suffice.
Take care, be ready.

faranaz, halozcel2 and other jewish haters of Islam and Muslims:
Muslims rever Jesus and his saintly mother Mary and beleive in his authentic undoctored mission and gospels.
jews on the other hand totally reject out of hand and deny Jesus and his mission altogether; and together with the heathen Romans they persecuted and murdered Jesus the son of the saintly Mary thou he was one of their own-a jew.
Some six centuries after Jesus, jews teamed up again this time around with the heathen Arabs of Mecca to destroy the Prophet and Islam but failed miserably.
jews tried twice to murder the Prophet:once by poisioing him and the second time by trying to drop a huge rock on his head as he sat in the shadow of wall. they failed again. The Prophet twice pardoned them.
Many jews accepted and converted to Islam-as also detailed in Shlomo Snad's brilliant book:"The Invention of the jewish people."
jews on this forum should break their shameful silence and condemn israeli state terroirsm, systematic violence, ethnic cleaning against the Palestinian People for the past sixty three yearrs. (see Illan Pappe's book:"The Ethnic Cleaning of PAlestine."
israel should free the eleven thousand Palestinian men, women and children locked up in its jails for resisting its brutal apartheid occupation of all of Arab historic Palestine-the longest in modern history.
The Palestinian Nikba (National Catastrophe)is worse than the holocaust. And besiged Gaza is worse than Aushwitz.

12 men arrested in suspected UK terrorism plot
By PAISLEY DODDS
The Associated Press
Monday, December 20, 2010; 7:45 PM
LONDON -- In the biggest anti-terrorist sweep in Britain in nearly two years, police on Monday arrested a dozen men accused of plotting a large-scale terror attack on targets inside the United Kingdom.
The suspects, who ranged in age from 17 to 28, had been under surveillance for weeks and were believed to have links to Pakistan and Bangladesh, security officials said.
The arrests come amid growing concerns in Europe over terrorism following a suicide bombing in Sweden and reported threats of a terror attack on a European city modeled on the deadly shooting spree in Mumbai, India.
Police swooped in before dawn Monday in coordinated raids on houses in four cities - London, the Welsh city of Cardiff and the English cities of Birmingham and Stoke-on-Trent. The officers were unarmed, suggesting any planned attack was not imminent.
The raid, a joint operation by Britain's domestic spy agency MI5 and police, was the largest since April 2009, when 12 men were detained over an alleged al-Qaida bomb plot in the northern city of Manchester.
Counterterrorism officials declined to give more details of the latest alleged plot, saying only that the men had been under surveillance for several weeks. No details were given as to whether explosives or arms were found, and searches were under way in the homes where the arrests took place.
"The operation is in its early stages so we are unable to go into detail at this time," said John Yates, Britain's senior counterterrorism police officer.
Still, he said Monday's raids, involving a dozen suspects across the U.K., indicated they were planning something big.
"This is a large scale, pre-planned and intelligence-led operation involving several forces," Yates said.
Police have up to 28 days to question the suspects before they must be charged or released.
The men are thought to be British nationals with links to Bangladesh and Pakistan, according to a counterterrorism official who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media. Britain is home to large Pakistani and Bangladeshi communities.
The arrests were not believed to be part of any planned holiday season attack, said a British security official who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of his work.
Iraqi officials claimed last week that captured insurgents believed the Dec. 11 bombing in Stockholm was part of a series of attacks planned for the Christmas season.
Those claims were rejected by both British and German officials, who insisted there are no specific threats to their countries over the holiday period.
In October, the U.S. State Department advised American citizens living or traveling in Europe to be wary amid reports th

To say that
"Muslims and Christians do have some differing perspectives on Jesus' life and teachings."
is one of the bigger understatements of the last 1500 years.
Muslims see Jesus as a prophet and Christians see Jesus as God in the flesh, Messiah and Savior for all mankind.
Christians and Muslims have less in common than the writer understands.

THANK YOU. God has made a way for peace through agreement in the Qur'an and the Bible. What is stopping that peace is failure to follow the word of God that He sent to the prophets.
Jesus said, "..live by EVERY word out of the mouth of God." (Matthew 4:4 in agreement with Moses in Deuteronomy 8:3)
Jesus said, "If they believe not Moses and the Prophets, neither will they believe though one rise from the dead." (Luke 16:31 on how to escape torments after death; Exodus 12: Passover month is beginning of year. Exodus 20 Ten Commandments: no images or bowing down to them, 7th day weekly Sabbath of no work)
God’s primary message through Muhammad was, "Say, O People of the Book, you stand on nothing till you observe the Torah and the Gospel and all God has sent down to you." (Qur'an, Ahmadiyya Numbers: 5.68, 69; judge by Torah and Gospel: 5.43-51; and same religion 42.14-16.)
God gave certain holy days including Sabbaths of no work for any. If we followed them, we would have unity instead of division. God said not to add to them nor take away from His word. YET NONE OF THE RELIGIONS are following that. That begins our problem because God made consequences for disobedience. (Deuteronomy 4:2, Leviticus 23, 26)
The solution to our wars is found in the Bible and the Qur'an when we are ready to believe that God is God over all the earth and He did not give contradictory messages.
When we want to live by God's word, we will have peace. God has prepared the way before us; WE need to prepare the way before Him. We need to call for God's wisdom and commandments in our government and religious leaders.

The same arguments are being said and written by some muslims and CIA agents who pretend to be(or to convert to islam) muslim. If you repeat same illogical and irrational assertions over and over again, unfortunately same Correctness will be repeated as well.
-Islam insults Jesus Christ.*Christ was muslim* is an Insult/Blasphemy to Jesus.
-Submission insults Trinity. In terms of Submission Mentality,Trinity is an Idolatry and it's unforgetable Sin(partner to Allah)
*Islam rejects Second Coming. In Desert Bedouin Ethic, which calls six year-old Child Girl as Muslim Woman and considers six year-old Child Girl as Sex Object as exactly written by ALTmuslimah,Son of Bedouin will save people, not anyone else.
-Submission rejects and mocks Son of God(Divinity of Jesus Christ) and Bible which is doctored and corrupted(who and when doctored? no answer)
-Islam doesnt love Jesus Christ, islam loves muslim christ who used to prayer namaz(islamic prostration worship) Islam doesnt love anything which is not islamic.
Islam hates....
-Islam is Holy War.
-Islam is Conquest.
-Islam is the Terminator. It terminates Infidel Cultures like Saudi Arabi,Egypt,Iran,Pakistan(West India,Indian 5000 year-old historic territory),Indonesia etc.
-USA is an Infidel Land(House of War.I dont want to write in Bedouin Language).Infidel Land has to be conquered and islam welcomes all kind of Troya Horses.

Ibrahim,
You and the various Saudi funded conversion centers throughout the United States and Europe can go on blathering about Jesus (Isa) in Quran from now until doomsday, forgetting, of course, the extremely high rate of Christian literacy worldwide.
Christians know you think the Bible was corrupted, that Quran says Jesus did not die, that he is not the Son of God and that any who think so are doomed eternally.
THEY KNOW THIS.
So, by all means, go ahead and have every third Muslim owned car decorated with "Learn about Jesus in the Quran." You simply make fools of yourselves.
Christians also know that MOSES (Moshe Rabeinu) is the single prophet most written about in Quran. They KNOW this and know that next to Muhammad he is most revered in Islam. They know, too, that the previous Muslim essayist here threatened Jews with GENOCIDE. Christians take exception to that. And so, Ibrahim, do Jews. Ah, yes, we do.
Wonder what the major Islam supporting Jewish agencies of America thought of that when they received emails of that article. Wonder what the Christian organizations thought. Wonder what the interfaith groups thought. Wonder....
Islamists can plant themselves all over America and it will do no good. This is a Christian country. It does not support genociding to Jews and hypocritically sucking up to Christians. It just is that way. It's a Christian thing--morality.
I am reminded of what happened recently in an African American neighborhood in Brooklyn when it was suddenly innundated with "Islamic Centers." In this very, very Christian neighborhood, the Muslims undertook conversion. The "Centers" closed and headed for the hills in short order.
We also have to ask why when a group comprises less than 1.5% of the population, it hogs the newspapers and sites like this. OnFaith currently has four columns by Muslims, and we get one day after day. ENough! Stop the violence and bigotry, tone it down a few notches, act like every other American group, and we'll all get along just fine.

This man is clearly thinking with an islamic brain and uses islamic logic. Muslims tell the Christians that their Bible is corrupted. Then they give them second class dhimmi status whenever they can. In places where islam is on the ropes musalmaans like this one and several others like him come up with rubbish like this. Who cares what is in the koran, it's a poorly authored book from mohammed. The book cannot be used as a historic document, one cannot make out who the people (Jewish prophets) it is referring to without going back to the "corrupted" Bible or Jewish scripture.
Hooper go back to suing the USA and leave discussions about Christians and the cult of islam out of this.

Ibrahim,
Why doesn't CAIR address the hate and discrimination against Non-Muslims that is in the laws of every Muslim country around the world? Islam hates non-Muslims. Islam's Sharia of every Fiqh expresses that hate. The laws of Muslim countries derived from Sharia all demonstrate that hate for the non-Muslims. Why is that? So before you try to lie about how Islam can accept the non-muslims in America, you should address the fact that Islam has never ever accepted non-Muslims other than second class humans. Why should the Kafirs of America expect any different from Islam in USA?

Jesus of the Quran is very different than the Jesus of the New Testament (Ingil). Issa (Jesus of the Quran) is a mere prophet not unlike Joseph, Noah and Adam. Muslims admit that Issa raised the dead but quick to add “with Allah permission” in order to strip Him of His divinity, yet never volunteer to answer the question that immediately presents itself; “Why did Allah not permit such a power to any other prophet?” The Quran denies the crucifixion of Jesus which is central to the Christian faith and describes His followers as polytheists or infidels or both. There were some somehow tolerant verses written in the early part of Mohammad’s mission some of which were quoted by Mr. Hooper but were later abrogated (cancelled): The contradictions in the Quran are mind boggling. More importantly is that there are enough of the later verses in the Quran that were used by Muslims over the centuries to persecute and humiliate the Dhimmi (Christians and Jews) living among them. Verse 9;29 was the basis for the inordinate head tax called Jizia that was levied on Dhimmis which was designed to impoverish them as well as responsible for the provisions of the “Omar Pact” that institutionalized their inhumane treatment.

You wrote, "It is well known, particularly in this holiday season, that Christians follow the teachings of Jesus. What is less well understood is that Muslims also love and revere Jesus as one of God's greatest messengers to mankind."
What you clearly seem to not mention or gloss over is that Jesus is taught, in the Quran, as "one of God's greatest messengers to mankind" whereas in Christianity, Jesus is taught as God becoming One of us, God-Incarnate.
There is a "world of difference", so to speak, between these two perspectives, in other words, what is taught in the Quran is that Christianity is a lie, it is that simple.
You also wrote, "The Quran shows Jesus speaking from the cradle and, with God's permission, curing lepers and the blind."
This is another place that is in direct opposition to what the Bible says of Jesus.
You also wrote, "Say ye: 'We believe in God and the revelation given to us and to Abraham, Ismail, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes, and that given to Moses and Jesus, and that given to (all) Prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and it is unto Him that we surrender ourselves.'"
Question: If "we make no distinction" was it Isaac that Abraham took up on the mountain as reported in the Bible or was it Ismail as I have heard it said that this is what is reported in the Quran?
If this is what is reported in the Quran than it most definitely seems to be a "distinction", as in the god of islam saying in the Quran that the Jewish and Christian texts are lies, any comments on this?
You then wrote, " And yes, Muslims and Christians do have some differing perspectives on Jesus' life and teachings"
Quite an understatement, I would say, Christians say that Jesus is God-Incarnate and Muslims say that Jesus is not God-Incarnate, either one or the other is true, not both.
You then wrote, "We have more in common than we think."
Yes, we are all God's children, God created all of humanity in God's Image and Likeness and whether or not anyone believes that God became One of us, God did become One of us so that ALL of us would, ultimately, be with God in God's Kingdom.
The True, Living, Triune, Triumphant God is a searcher of hearts and minds, not of religious affiliations or lack thereof and It is important what one does, and why one does it and what one knows.
See you and the rest of humanity in the Kingdom.
Take care, be ready.

Rubbish.
Bani Al Nadeer did not try to kill Muhammad. He left the meeting with them early where they agreed to help him with money but not with men to fight in his wars. So he invents a story that his sock puppet allah told him that the Bani Al Nadeer were planning on killing him by dropping a stone on him. He was not sitting in the shadows. He had gone home. No stone was ever dropped. No one ever heard of any member of the Al Nadeer tribe say they were going to drop a stone. It is only Muhammad and his imaginary friend who knew what was being planned, and for that the War Lord of Medina attacked this small tribe and destroyed them.
Truly, the lies that are told to Muslims and the lies that accept without thinking are beyond belief.
