Believers as Hypocrites
When people claim to believe in God and still harbor prejudices against people of color and race then the only word that can describe such people is "hypocrites". God (and, therefore, religion) is about love, respect, understanding, acceptance and appreciation, and if one cannot understand this or imbibe this message from the scriptures then there is something radically wrong with the practice of religion.
As we progress into time -- now in the 21st century -- the assumption is that we are progressing along with time. Which, to me, means that progression is normally towards something better. In other words, human beings are, or should be, becoming more civilized. If this isn't happening -- and obviously, if so many of us still harbor hate and prejudice toward each other, it is not happening -- then there is something radically wrong in our education, our religious understanding and in ourselves. The wise would find ways to get out of the mire. The sheep would follow blindly to where ever the shepherd leads them.
