"Self Renewal"

I recommend John Gardner’s "Self Renewal: The Individual and the Innovative Society," Harper & Row, Publishers, Inc., 1963. Sometimes it makes sense to go back and reread what our founding fathers and mothers were trying to say to us that just may be relevant for our times.

John Gardner, the founder of both Common Cause and Independent Sector, was always perceptive and inspiring. He talked about the reality of CHANGE in our lives and the need to keep pace with it, maintaining a HOPE-FILLED spirit.

Here is his challenge: "Life isn't a train ride where you choose your destination, pay your fare and settle back for a nap. It's a cycle ride over uncertain terrain, with you in the driver's seat, constantly correcting your balance and determining the direction of progress. It's difficult, sometimes profoundly painful." In this present Presidential Election Season, these are important lessons to keep in focus and to inspire the faithful voter.”

Things always change but reality remains reality.

Some truths are forever some are things we pretend will last forever because they please us. Wisdom is the ability to tell one from the other.

So.... Bgone.. You don't like the status quo, you don't like change...

It's all some kind of Brownian motion to you, but... It's going the wrong way?

Evidently John Gardner’s "Self Renewal: The Individual and the Innovative Society," can be summed with, "things were different before they all changed."

I notice you capitalized CHANGE saying something. You're not thinking about, "CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN" are you? Actually, I'm sure you are thinking just that but am left to wonder if you're fer it or agin it. What is forever happening is CHANGE WE HAVE NO FAITH IN as in, I don't believe a word of it.

What we see about us is nothing but a swarm of particles that never stop moving or ever touch each other. In other words, things are in a continual state of change. The only thing that can be static is one's mind. That fellow didn't figure out a way to ride a bike over rugged terrain without ever changing one's mind? Now that would be something alright.
