Guarantee Fetus Right to a Good Life

Government has a right to attack Roe v. Wade only when it guarantees that the fetus will have a quality education, adequate food and housing, quality healthcare, and a favorable community in which to advance. Anything short of this is infanticide in stages and wanton hypocrisy.

Regarding Ken's comment about the hypocrisy in Dr. Taylor's statement. I do not believe the point is that the fetus be allowed to die if the government cannot provide these things. The point is that if the government is going to be involved in the moral decision to decide whether or not the mother should give birth, then also let the government take some responsibility for the moral decisions to provide the child with a quality education, food and housing, healthcare, and a good community. It is hypocrisy for the government to force its hand in such an important moral decision as the birth of the child, and then after it makes that decision for the parent(s), steps away and leave the other important moral decisions solely up to the parent(s). Either take responsibility along with the parents for the life of the child at every stage of their development, or stay completely out of the decision-making process!

Thanks, I think. That's a pretty back-handed nod of approval.

Before government or anyone else can begin to provide any of the above (which in fact is the responsibility of family, never the purpose or responsibility of government) the fetus must first be allowed to live. The hypocrisy in your statement is stunning in its moral depravity.

To Pastor Taylor: Very well said.

To the person that quoted the statistics regarding abortion rates and the perceived causes: Can you also quote the statistical break down on the number of kids that grow up in the foster care systems abused and neglected? Have you ever considered adoption?

Just asking.

So Reverend Gardner Calvin Taylor- is abortion a form of birth control? Of course not. Teach teach teach in your communities.

Here are the statistics:

US Abortion Rate Lowest Since Legalization; Racial Disparities Persist

"Hispanic women obtained abortion at a rate three times the rate of non-Hispanic white women; the rate among black women was five times the rate of non-Hispanic white women. But abortion rates have fallen since 1980 for all racial and ethnic groups - white women saw a drop of 30%, Hispanic women 20%, and black women 15%.

Why the dramatic racial disparities? "Behind virtually every abortion is an unintended pregnancy. And because women of color are much more likely to experience unintended pregnancies than any other group, they are also more likely to seek and obtain abortions," Rachel Jones, Guttmacher Institute senior research associate, said in a statement."
