Grateful for grace

In October 1789, President George Washington declared his support for a day of "public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God."

Do you have a Thanksgiving blessing or prayer? What are you grateful for?

Alex Haley, the author of "Roots," had an unusual picture hanging on his office wall. It was a picture of a turtle on top of a fence post. When asked about the meaning of the picture, Haley replied, "Every time I write something significant, every time I read my words and think that they are wonderful, and begin to feel proud of myself, I look at the turtle on top of the fence post and remember that he didn't get there on his own. He had help."

Being grateful is remembering that we did not get here on our own. Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on the grace that has been afforded to us. Freedom is not free. In other words, what we enjoy in this life has been paid for by others. To all the military and civilian service members, pastors, doctors, teachers, fathers and mothers (and the list goes on) that have directly or indirectly blessed us with these moments that we are now sharing...thank you.

God bless you and God bless America.

Mr. Franklin Graham.

Boooo! i know Halloween is past but,

i guess 'VOODOO'ism is a Failed-Religion (if Any) more than a Failed-State.

Voodooism Bites Back and Haitian's have themselves to blame.

Voodism should be out-lawed in Haiti. Then Maybe they will start getting Lucky. aye?

They need a Stable Government. But it takes None Superstitious Folks to Run It's Government and a None Superstitious Public to Appreciate It.

SuperStition [Faith & Practice] is what Killed HAITi, not Earth Quakes, not god (if Any)!

A THANKSGIVING PSALM

Oh give thanks to the LORD; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples! Sing to him; sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous works! Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice!

Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his presence continually! Remember the wondrous works that he has done, his miracles and the judgments he uttered. He is the LORD our God; his judgments are in all the earth.

Sing to the LORD, all the earth! Tell of his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples! For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised, and he is to be held in awe above all gods.

For all the gods of the peoples are idols, but the LORD made the heavens. Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and joy are in his place. Ascribe to the LORD, O clans of the peoples, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength!

Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; bring thanksgiving and come before him! Worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness; tremble before him, all the earth; yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved.

Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice, and let them say among the nations, “The LORD reigns!” Let the sea roar, and all that fills it; let the field exult, and everything in it! Then shall the trees of the forest sing for joy before the LORD, for he comes to judge the earth.

Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever!—I Chronicles 16

Have a thankful Thanksgiving.

Obama is a fence post turtle...

While dressing a cut on the hand of a 75-year-old Texas rancher, whose hand was caught in a gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man.

Eventually the topic got around to Barack Obama and his bid to be the president.

The old rancher said, ”Well, ya know, Obama is a ‘post turtle,’ ”

Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a ”post turtle” was. The old rancher said, ”When you’re driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that’s a ‘post turtle.’ ”

The old rancher saw a puzzled look on the doctor’s face, so he continued to explain.

”You know he didn’t get up there by himself, he doesn’t belong up there, he doesn’t know what to do while he is up there, and you just wonder what kind of a dumb fool put him up there!”
