Don't we have enough public concerns to worry about without fretting over whether or not the Obamas want to display a crèche in the White House? Even America's First Family has a right to express their individual religious beliefs and decorate their home with symbols of their worship this holiday season. Or not, as the case may be.

freedom of conscience is not a priority for mono-ideologies. Luckily for us, the founders of this nation did think it was a priority.
On the other hand a tree is not as important as a war, and neither as important as human freedom (as that of two men who show affection in a public space).

It's funny to me how many panelists made the argument that we have too many other things to worry about to consider the legality of presidential action, albeit in a simple matter of White House decoration, is important. I hear this from theists often - "How could you think separation of church and state is important when we are at war?" etc. I should reply "How can you think getting a 'Merry Christmas' from the part-timer at the mall is important when the economy is tanking?"

Interesting. Nowhere in this list of priorities does Mr. Otterson mention same-sex marriage or abortion. Yet these are the issues that the Mormon church has been pouring its resources into for the past several years.
This exemplifies the dishonest, two-faced nature of the Mormon belief system. Work hard and put your money into restricting what others can do, but declare publicly that your priorities are in sync with those of mainstream America.
Sounds like some early electioneering for the "Mitt Romney in 2012" campaign.

The Obamas are certainly free to do whatever they wish in their house, the private residence.
The President, while dealing with all the issues facing the nation, should wish not to divide us by giving special place to his faith in the White House, our hous
That sensitivity may need a few more generations not to be an issue, of whatever weight...

Exactly.
I don't live in the White House and won't be invited this year.
This is so low on the list of things for us to worry about.
