Too high a price
Should Ireland have a law against blasphemy? No.
In order to have freedom of speech and religious freedom, one must be willing to endure speech that one considers highly offensive or even blasphemous. If you allow the state to censor some speech as blasphemous or highly offensive, you give to the state the power to control and define what may be uttered and what may be not uttered in the public square. That is an unacceptably high price to pay for not being offended.
