pre-conference workshop
"Earth as Teacher, Earth as Healer"
The Earth herself is our greatest teacher and healer, whether we want to heal and transform our personal hurts, or heal the huge wounds our society inflicts on the Earth and other human beings. The ancient Goddess traditions had no sacred texts or dogmas: instead, their mystics learned to read the book of nature. Understanding how the Earth's cycles work, how change occurs in nature, and how Mother Earth designs co-evolving, interdependent systems can help us be better designers of the changes we want to see in our own lives and the world. No matter what the outcome of current political debates, the work of healing will continue for our lifetimes, and our connection to Earth is our deepest source of hope, renewal, and strength. This workshop, drawing on Starhawk's latest book Earth Path, weaves together ritual, guided journeys, games, and stories to help us connect more deeply with the great transformative powers of nature, and to bring those creative energies fully alive in our lives, homes, and communities so that we can also bring healing, justice, and balance into the world.

weekend workshop
"Explore Earth Spirit and Earth Justice with Starhawk"
Starhawk draws on her decades of writing, teaching and practicing Goddess-oriented spirituality, as well as her front-line activism for social and environmental justice, and her experience teaching ecological design, permaculture and bioremediation, to identify and invoke the great powers working with us for the healing of the Earth. This retreat will provide the opportunity to re-root your spirit, politics, and day-to-day life in a deeper relationship with the Earth. Many of us who proclaim nature as sacred are unclear on the processes by which nature actually works! We will explore a synthesis of Earth-based spirituality and sustainable earthcare practices. Beyond working cooperatively "with" nature, we can reclaim that we too *are* nature. Take some time at Wild Women's very natural basecamp, during summer's first full moon, to help ground your Earth connection, politics, and spirituality in real ground, real earth.
A women-only event. Starhawk teaches from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon; Sunday evening will be a dance, Monday brunch ends the event. Presented by Wild Women Expeditions.
Location: WWE's 230-acre waterfront wilderness retreat 30 minutes outside Sudbury.
Cost: $175 CAD for workshop, plus meals and accommodation $279 CAD.

Washington Post,
I am so grateful to see the writings and views of Starhawk on this website.

She is an important voice in America today.I believe she is a spokeswoman for so many women and men who feel strongly about the sacredness of the Earth, the plight of our world and the horrific state of the political landscape as well.

Many thanks for printing the wisdom of Starhawk and for your open minded policy.

Sincerely,
Clare Shields

Starhawk, I am grateful for all the work you are doing to promote environmental awareness and spiritually reclaiming our Mother Earth. I don't know if you are aware of the upcoming event in Ontario, Canada, October 4,5,6,7 called "The Awakening" (www.theawakening.ca), one of the biggest gatherings in North American history of natives and environmental activists. I know you will be coming home from Sicily and on your way to California in the weeks before and after this date, but we were wondering if you would be interested in participating in this event. We believe it would garner more attention from members of the pagan community as well as eco/environmentalists if you were able to attend. Should you have the time, please peruse the above-mentioned website on the chance you could lend your spirit to this great cause. Thank you for your time, blessed be...
