Only active Latino archbishop named to lead L.A. diocese

The Vatican today appointed the Mexican-born Archbishop Jose Gomez to be the next archbishop of Los Angeles, the country's largest Catholic archdiocese.
When he takes over in 2011 from the 74-year-old Cardinal Roger Mahony, Gomez will be the first new archbishop in Los Angeles in 25 years. He is currently the only active Latino archbishop in the country, making the appointment historic. Here's how Don Clemmer phrased it, blogging for the U.S. Conference of Catholic bishops:
"It's hard to think of a more high-profile acknowledgment of this growing segment of the U.S. Church than having a Latino made bishop of our largest diocese."
The Opus Dei priest, who became a U.S. citizen in 1995, became a bishop in 2001, in Denver. In 2004 he was named archbishop of San Antonio.

Archbishop Roberto Gonzalez of San Juan, PR has very much been an active Latino Archbishop in the US for the past 11 years. Gomez has been #2.

Will he be speaking PRO ILLEGALS like ROGER's L.A. DIOCESE has done and has not file or pay tax since the ILLEGALS are a political issue? It is time to repeal USA TAX EXAMPT LAW account of so many violations of groups that speak out on politcal matters against the TAX EXAMPT LAW rules. Total freedom of speech in the USA requires the paying of USA fedral tax if you have the income. P.S. To all of you that have came to the USA by way of USA law and became citzens, I welcome you and hope that you all have a full and happy life in YOUR new country, the USA. Illegals, you are criminal by the first step and are a libility to AMERICAN.
