Mr. Kuttab is the former director of the Institute of Modern Media at Al Quds University in Ramallah, Palestine and the founder of AmmanNet, the Arab world's first internet radio station. U.S., G-8: Practice What You Preach

Amman, Jordan -- At any other time I might agree to this idea, but these days the moral authority of the U.S. has weakened its ability to preach to others. The rest of the G-8 members are not so much better, as they have placed their narrow interests over and ahead of their own independence and commitment to democracy.

The World Needs a Level Playing Field

Amman, Jordan--The World Cup is internationally successful because all countries are on an even playing field. Each team is allowed the same number of players and subject to the same rules of the game. By contrast, double standards harm for the international community's ability to be taken seriously.

No Illegitimate Interventions

Amman, Jordan -- I doubt that American military intervention in Hungary 50 years ago would have produced results much different than the chaos we are now seeing in Iraq. Foreign military intervention in domestic issues should be done with extreme care, after the genuine exhaustion of all other means and only with international support and legitimacy.
